The custom designed deep "C" shape, and flat profile of our yokes, replaces a traditional straight thwart and may be comfortably utilized "as is" for moving your canoe around, and for short portages. As with all yokes, if you are planning large portages, it is advised that you add padding.

The "C" shape keeps all contact off of the base of your neck and back, and transfers the canoe's weight to your shoulders for efficient and comfortable portaging. Our yokes are made of 3/4" thick ash. They are carefully crafted and sanded and are finished with 5 coats of quality spar varnish. They are available in two sizes, to accomodate different shoulder widths.
